Emma dances the cat out of the bag

Meet Emma from Northampton, England. Emma has been an Entertainment Cast Member at Disneyland® Paris since 2016 and has a rich international performing background. After auditioning for ten years, Emma received a dancing contract and has been making magic happen every day since then. We dive deeper into her unique Disney Story.

  • Can you tell us about your entertainment experience so far?

I started working abroad when I was 19 years old, during short-term contracts as a dancer, entertainer and performer in luxurious hotels, cruise ships, theme parks and a circus. I lived in Greece, Turkey, the Netherlands, Switzerland, India and areas around the Baltic Sea. Besides my passion for dancing I love magic. I used to be a magician’s assistant, which was fun.

  • How did your path eventually lead to Disneyland Paris?

Every time I returned to the United Kingdom I auditioned for Disneyland Paris. I made it on the books six times. If you pass the audition you can receive a contract up to six months afterwards. Each time I auditioned I became more relaxed. I received a phone call six days after my last audition and I literally screamed when I received my contract offer. That was the most surprised I have ever been.

  • Was moving to France very different compared to your previous international experiences?

It is very different because you have a lot of independence here. In my previous jobs I had no time outside of work. Here I can make plans around my schedule. We have a world of entertainment at our doorstep. Paris is so close, and the Disney parks are just around the corner. In the beginning the language was quite difficult. My French improved a lot while talking to colleagues and asking them for help.

  • Can you share some of your most magical moments at Disneyland Paris?

I love flying down Main Street U.S.A. as a bee on the Disney’s Magic on Parade and with Fauna during Disney’s Stars on Parade. Dancing the Christmas cavalcade in the snow on Christmas Day is incredible. But my favourite memory was with the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. People traveled across oceans for his meet and greet.

  • What is your best advice to anyone who wants to work at Disneyland Paris?

Do not give up! Keep going for what you want, you can do it. After trying so many times I learned that perseverance pays-off.
